Matthew McConaughey calls for Americans to 'meet in the middle' over political issues: 'We share more values'

Matthew McConaughey called out politicans for losing sight of their "values and vision" in a new op-ed. The actor worked with lawmakers to pass gun reform following the Uvalde shooting.
Writing for Esquire, McConaughey started from the beginning, May 24, the day of the tragic shooting that left 21 dead in his hometown. Lauryn Overhultz is an entertainment writer for Fox News Digital.
"I’m sickened by the spate of mass shootings in America – especially those at schools, which are supposed to be some of the safest of spaces for our children and the closest extensions of our own homes," McConaughey wrote. She has interviewed many celebrities including Tori Spelling, Luke Bryan, Shania Twain and more.
Lauryn has done on the ground coverage as well including traveling to New Mexico in 2021 to cover the on-set shooting involving Alec Baldwin.
