Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's ashes immersed at Astha Ghat with State honors in presence of dignitaries from India and abroad.
Ashes of the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is being immersed at the Astha Ghat in the national capital on Sunday, December 29, 2024.
He was cremated with full State honours on Saturday in the presence of top dignitaries from India and around the world.
President Droupadi Murmu, the supreme commander of the armed forces, led the nation in paying last respects to the departed leader. The last rites were performed in the presence of Ms. Murmu, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Mauritius Foreign Minister Dhananjay R. Ramful, and other top leaders and foreign dignitaries.
Mr. Singh’s funeral pyre was lit by his eldest daughter Upinder Singh at the Nigambodh Ghat amid the chanting of religious hymns.
