After introducing a series of reforms and restoring the confidence of job seekers in the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC), its Chairman M. Mahender Reddy relinquished his office on Monday (December 2, 2024) after attaining 62 years.
The former Director General of Police (DGP) was brought in by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy after the TGPSC was mired in controversies and lost credibility due to a series of paper leakages and the recruitment exams caught in legal wrangles over several years. The biggest achievement of Mr. Reddy is the successful conduct of the Group-I examination which was cancelled twice by the previous government due to paper leakage and violation of norms in the examination process. Now the Group-I results are to be declared soon fulfilling the dreams of youngsters after 13 years, and for the first time since Telangana was formed.
Known for his reforms in the police force during his stint as the Cyberabad Police Commissioner, Hyderabad Police Commissioner and the DGP, Mr. Mahender Reddy made similar reforms that ensured transparency and effectively put an end to legal wrangles. He established a Legal Cell appointing a Law officer and four legal consultants and also an IT cell posting a Chief Information Officer and a Chief Information Security Officer with IT background.
Stringent measures were introduced to avoid any kind of malpractices in the examination process and the biometrics of the candidates were captured 100% for all the recruitment exams since January 2024. Also, the seamless video footage of the centres and strong rooms was captured and monitored from the Central command centre at TGPSC during the conduct of the examinations.
