
Lukewarm response for Bandh in North Karnataka

Karnataka Bandh for Kannada cause receives lukewarm response, with normal life continuing in most districts.
The call for Karnataka Bandh by Pro Kannada organisations for the Kannada cause evoked lukewarm response in the districtcs of Kalyana and Kittur Karnataka on Saturday (March 22, 2025).
Belagavi, the epicentre of the Marathi - Kannada and Karnataka Maharashtra border row, too witnessed lukewarm response with people carrying out their normal life as usual.

Public transport buses, auto rickshaws, private vehicles descended on the roads as usual and shops and commercial establishments remained open.
However as a precautionary measure, the services of state transport buses operating between Karnataka and Maharashtra remained suspended.
On the eve of the Bandh on Friday, activists of various factions of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike requested shop owners and people to extend support to the Bandh call by giving them flowers. Local Kannada organisations had clarified that they would just extend moral support to the call as they were not consulted before giving the Bandh call.
In the districts ocross the Kittur and Kalyana Karnataka, including Hubballi- Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Haveri and Gadag, it was normal life as usual.
