Londoners give generously during CBC's Sounds of the Season fundraising drive
CBC
Sounds of the Season, CBC's annual fundraising drive, is a chance for people to share their stories and donate what they can, with proceeds going to the London Food Bank.
This year, Londoners donated $54,500 and 375 lbs of food — and the campaign will keep accepting donations until the end of December.
CBC's London Morning with host Andrew Brown broadcast live from the food bank on Leathorne Street. Audiences heard from a waitress who is donating all her tip to charity in honour of her late brother, high school students who spend their Saturday mornings cooking for their neighbours, and members of the Chinese community who started a garden to grow fresh food to donate.
A generous donation was made by London lawyer Barbara Legate, who, along with her husband, donated $50,000 during the live broadcast.
The show also included live music from the Beal Singers, a choir of high school students directed by music teacher David Weaver.
