The NBA champion’s decision comes after the Los Angeles-based team drafted his son, Bronny James.
LeBron James is sticking with the Los Angeles Lakers.
On Wednesday, the NBA champion, who will celebrate his 40th birthday in December, agreed to a two-year, $104 million maximum contract to return to the Lakers, ESPN reports.
James’ decision to re-sign comes just one week after the Lakers signed his oldest son, Bronny James, the 55th overall pick in the NBA draft. The pair would become the first father-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time in league history.
Representatives for the Lakers and James did not immediately reply to a request for confirmation and comment.
According to ESPN, James’ deal would bring him back for his 22nd NBA season, and then he will be able to reevaluate his future with the Lakers and NBA next summer.
