The radio show co-host and singer "passed away peacefully" Thursday, her widowed partner Alex announced Friday.
Jim Carrey’s older sister Rita Carrey has died, according to a Facebook post from her widowed husband, Alex.
A cause of death for the Canadian singer, who also worked as the radio show co-host and producer of “The Peet & Reet Show,” has yet to be disclosed.
“It is with a heavy heart and my deepest sadness, surrounded by her family and friends Rita passed away peacefully and quietly on November 14 2024,” he wrote Friday. “Rita and I (Alex) have been together for 16 years and we just got married last year in July.”
“We travelled the world and met many people who we consider friends,” Alex added. “Rita was my bestest friend, my lover and my beautiful wife. Rita always had a loving soul and wanted to help everyone even total strangers.”
The widower noted that Christmas, which is mere weeks away, was “Rita’s favourite holiday” — but that his late wife was such a giving person that the season “was everyday for her.”
