'Irony Is Dead': Lara Trump Slammed After Clueless Complaint About 'Competence'

The president's daughter-in-law might've been the wrong person to deliver this message.
Lara Trump on Thursday defended her father-in-law, President Donald Trump, for blaming this week’s deadly plane crash in Washington in part on diversity initiatives, and signing a memorandum to end DEI programs in aviation in response.
But her critics are pointing out that she might not be the best person for the job of delivering that message.
Trump told Fox News host Laura Ingraham that her father-in-law’s memo says hirings should be based on “competence and merit and that’s it.”
She said diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives have “been a huge problem” and called them a “disservice to the public.”
“We want the best people. We want the most competent people,” she said. “And we should never be hiring anyone for any job other than the best person for that job, that should be the number one reason.”
