IMD predicts hot and humid weather in parts of Andhra Pradesh. Maximum temperatures are likely to be above normal by 2 to 4 degree Celsius across North and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh up to March 19.
More than five stations in Andhra Pradesh recorded a maximum temperature of more than 41 degree Celsius on Saturday (March 15), while the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast a hot and humid weather at isolated places in North and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh on Sunday (March 16) as well.
The maximum temperatures were likely to be above normal by 2 to 4 degree Celsius across the two regions until March 19, and in the region of Rayalaseema until March 17.
On Saturday, Gospadu in Nandyal and Ulindakonda in Kurnool districts sizzled at 41.8 degree Celsius, followed by Darimadugu in Prakasam district and Tummikapalli in Vizianagaram that recorded 41.7 degree Celsius, Kothavalasa in Vizianagaram district (41.5 degree Celsius) and Madduru in Kadapa district (41 degree Celsius), as per information from the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA).
Nineteen mandals in the State recorded ‘severe heatwave’ on Saturday, while 54 recorded ‘heatwave’.
According to the inputs from the APSDMA, 45 mandals will see severe heatwave on Sunday, March 16.
People with heart problems and lifestyle diseases have been advised to stay indoors. Others, while venturing out, should use an umbrella or wear a cap. Pregnant women, children and elderly persons have been asked to be extra cautious.
