
Hydro worker critically injured after incident near Toronto's harbourfront

A man is in critical condition after a possible electrocution overnight Thursday near Toronto's harbourfront, emergency crews said.
Fire crews were called to the area of Rees Street and Queens Quay W. around 1.50 a.m. for reports of an industrial accident.
A hydro worker was in a vault and was possibly electrocuted, Toronto Fire said. The victim was taken out by firefighters and taken to hospital.
Paramedics said the victim is in critical, life-threatening condition.
Police said the victim is a man in his 30s. Another person sustained non-life threatening injuries, police said in a post on X.
The Ministry of Labour is investigating.
There is an ongoing power outage in the area that began around 1:54 a.m., according to the Toronto Hydro website. Around 792 customers are affected.
Crews are onsite and power is expected to return to the area around 8 a.m, the website said.
CBC Toronto has reached out to Toronto Hydro and the Ministry of Labour for comment.
