The "Today" co-anchor teared up as Segel reminded her of the legacy she'll leave behind when she departs the show next year.
Leave it to Jason Segel to ensure Hoda Kotb is aware of her impressive legacy as a television personality.
The “Today” co-anchor became visibly emotional after Segel paid her a warm compliment at the end of a Wednesday interview about the new season of his Apple TV+ series, “Shrinking.”
“I’m gonna miss you when you’re gone,” the actor said. “I just want you to know, these interviews have been some of the best of my whole career, so I’m really grateful to know you.”
A moment later, Kotb appeared to be welling up with tears just as she and Segel leaned in for a hug.
Segel was alluding to Kotb’s recently announced plans to exit “Today” in 2025, after nearly two decades with the NBC morning show. She has co-anchored the first two hours of the show since 2018 and co-hosted its fourth hour since September 2007, when she became a part of the “Today” team.
