Utah Gov. Spencer Cox also explained why he was “very anxious” about who Trump will pick as his running mate.
Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R) on Thursday declared he would not be voting for his party’s presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
Cox told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins that he wouldn’t vote for President Joe Biden either and instead would “write somebody in.”
But in the same interview, Cox confusingly said he still wants former President Trump “to succeed” and for his party “to win.”
“I haven’t voted for the top of the ticket since 2012. I’ve certainly had my concerns, one of those is what happened on Jan. 6,” said Cox.
“I’m hopeful, I want my party to win,” he continued. “They chose a candidate this time around that was not my first choice. Wasn’t my choice last time, either, but the party’s spoken and that’s who they have chosen.”
