EVAS Air pilots vote for strike notice, looking for more money and improved conditions

Pilots say the clock is now ticking for it to reach an agreement for better working conditions with Gander-based airline Exploits Valley Air Services.
On Friday night, EVAS Air pilots served their employer a 72-hour strike notice, announcing they would go on strike on Tuesday at 12:01 a.m. if a settlement isn't reached within that time frame.
The 18 pilots and first officers are represented by Unifor Local 2002. Earlier this month, they voted 100 per cent in favour of a strike.
"The members are seeking improvements on wages, working conditions, work-life balance and contracting language," said a statement from the union on Saturday afternoon.
EVAS Air president Patrick White said he's dealing with the issue accordingly.
"People have the right to do what they're doing. And we're going to try to respond to that accordingly in the best way that we can," he told CBC News.
