Ethnic rebels claim entire Burmese army battalion has surrendered to them

Burma's Three Brotherhood Alliance claims that an entire military junta-backed army battalion surrendered to rebel forces over the weekend.

The alliance expects to soon capture Laukkaing, the area’s major city, the spokesperson said.
