Aerial photos released last week showed a miles-wide oil slick on the surface of the Gulf about two miles off Louisiana's coastline.
A team of divers appeared to find the source of an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday after a miles-long oil slick appeared in the wake of the mammoth Hurricane Ida. Divers found oil leaking from a foot-wide pipeline along the ocean floor after Talos Energy, a Houston-based energy company, paid for a private team to investigate the leak. The pipeline does not belong to Talos Energy, the company said, adding that it is working with the U.S. Coast Guard to investigate the incident. Talos said two smaller pipelines were found in the area that were open and seemingly abandoned, although it’s unclear if oil had leaked from them.More Related News
