Delhi-bound AI flight abandons take off after bird-hit at Chhattisgarh’s Raipur airport

A Delhi-bound Air India flight had to abandon take off after suffering a bird-hit while ascending on the runway of the Swami Vivekanand Airport in Raipur on Tuesday, officials said. Flight AIC 469, with 179 passengers on board, was leaving for Delhi from the Chhattisgarh capital when the plane suffered the bird-hit at 10.05 a.m., following which the take off was cancelled, Raipur Airport Director Rakesh Ranjan Sahay told PTI. “The passengers were subsequently de-boarded. Pieces of a bird’s carcass were found during inspection of the runway by the airport staff. The Air India’s engineering personnel are inspecting the aircraft,” he said.Hampi, the UNESCO-recognised historical site, was the capital of the Vijayanagara empire from 1336 to 1565. Foreign travellers from Persia, Europe and other parts of the world have chronicled the wealth of the place and the unique cultural mores of this kingdom built on the banks of the Tungabhadra river. The festival in Bengaluru is happening at various locations, including ATREE in Jakkur, Bangalore Creative Circus in Yeshwantpur, Courtyard Koota in Kengeri, and Medai the Stage in Koramangala. The festival will also take place in various cities across Karnataka including Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Mandya, Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Hassan, Chitradurga, Davangere, Chamarajanagar and Mysuru.
