Doha, Qatar: Qatar has strengthened its borders by ensuring that all its customs officials have the latest available technology to check smuggling and improve efficiency.
In an interview on Qatar Television, Ajab Mansour Alqahtani, Director of Customs at Hamad International Airport under the General Authority of Customs, highlighted the crucial role played by advanced technology and the constant vigilance of customs officers in maintaining airport security and preventing the smuggling of suspicious or prohibited materials.
Alqahtani emphasized that Hamad International Airport is among the advanced airports with regards to devices and tracking systems for detecting suspicious materials. These devices, which serve as an essential aid, are capable of discovering prohibited items regardless of how cleverly they are concealed.
He stated, "The advanced technology at Hamad International Airport, alongside the vigilance of customs officers, allows us to detect and discover any suspicious or prohibited materials."
Apart from the availability of latest technology, the inspectors also undergo intensifying theoretical and field training to read the body language of passengers and to be aware of the latest methods followed by smugglers.
