Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal said the complaint will be investigated by Mangaluru CEN Police Station.
The Cyber Economic and Narcotic Crime (CEN) police will investigate a complaint filed before Upalokayukta B. Veerappa accusing a chit fund firm in Mangaluru of cheating depositors with offers of a residential flat and other expensive items every month.
When reporters said Mangaluru City police were not acting on reports about chit fund firms luring depositors with expensive offers every month, Mr. Veerappa told reporters on December 3 that a complaint in this regard has been filed before him. All firms involved in chit fund business should be registered under Karnataka Pawn Brokers Act. There was a case in Bengaluru recently where a chit fund firm was accused of cheating several investors in a similar way.
“I have told the Mangaluru City police to investigate the case filed before me on December 2,” he said.
