Bombay High Court directs fresh investigation into Disha Salian's death, petition seeks FIR against Aaditya Thackeray.
The Bombay High Court on Wednesday (April 2, 2025) directed its registry department to assign Satish Salian’s petition before an appropriate Bench for a fresh investigation into the death of his daughter, Disha Salian, a former celebrity manager.
The petition was listed for hearing before a Division Bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Neela Gokhale but Mr. Salian’s advocates pointed out that the petition falls under crime against women and suggested that the assignment of the petition pertains to the Division Bench headed by Justice Sarang Kotwal who is specialised in such cases. The Bench then directed the registry department to ensure the petition is placed and reviewed by the recommended Bench.
Mr. Salian had moved the High Court with a petition in March 2025, urging a fresh investigation into the death of his daughter. The petition urged the High Court to order the registration of an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, and transfer of the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The petition claims that Disha Salian’s death was not accidental but a brutal rape and murder that was politically orchestrated to cover-up and protect certain influential persons.
Disha, 28, died on June 8, 2020, after falling off the 14th floor of a residential building in suburban Malad, six days before Sushant Singh Rajput’s death at his Bandra residence on June 14.
