Arvind Kejriwal criticizes Ayushman Bharat as a scam, while BJP plans to implement it in Delhi.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Friday (January 17, 2025) termed Ayushman Bharat as the “biggest scam” in the country.
“I am happy that the Supreme Court has also said that it is a fake scheme. Across the country it has come out that Ayushman Bharat is the biggest scam. When the central government changes and an inquiry is conducted, people will get to know how big a scam was Ayushman Bharat,” Mr. Kejriwal said while addressing a press conference.
Hitting back, BJP national president J.P. Nadda said that the Delhi High Court directed the Delhi government to sign the MoU for the scheme, which it ignored. BJP will implement it in its first cabinet meeting.
He also criticized the AAP-run Mohalla Clinics, calling them dens of corruption. “The BJP plans to investigate fraudulent lab tests, ₹3 billion scams, and ₹1 billion worth of medicines being distributed to close associates of the Chief Minister,” he said while addressing a press conference.
“AAP’s Sanjeevani Scheme has been described as a mere political tool to save its government, neglecting the welfare of Delhi’s people. Ayushman Bharat, which has been operational for over five years, wasn’t implemented because AAP prioritizes politics over governance,” he added.
