
AIADMK’s women wing to protest against Minister Ponmudy’s derogatory remarks

AIADMK to protest against Forest Minister Ponmudy's derogatory remarks on women led by former Ministers Valarmathi and Gokula Indira.
All Indian Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary and Leader of Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced that the party’s women wing would hold a protest on April 16 against Forest Minister K. Ponmudy for his derogatory remarks on women.
The protest will be held near Panagal Maligai in Saidapet and will be led by former Ministers B. Valarmathi and S. Gokula Indira, he said in a statement.
Many from the DMK are making derogatory remarks about women and religious beliefs. Mr. Ponmudy’s speech has angered people of the State especially women, Mr. Palaniswami said, while strongly condemning the Minister’s speech.
Mr. Ponmudy was Higher Education Minister and his derogatory speech has created concern and shock among people, he added.
The protest is to condemn Mr. Ponmudy for his speech and to highlight that there is no place for incident politics in the State, Mr. Palaniswami said.
