Critics slammed the Trump White House counselor's comments on Fox News.
White House counselor Alina Habba caused consternation on Tuesday with her interpretation of the law and, more specifically, her argument about who should determine it.
Habba railed on Fox News about Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) condemnation of President Donald Trump’s freeze on federal grant programs and Schumer’s claim it will be legally fought “right away” by the New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Habba trashed Schumer’s concerns and argued that the authority to interpret the law ultimately belongs to the Trump White House and Justice Department.
The former Trump defense attorney declared:
“What your opinion is on what the law is doesn’t really matter. It’s what the White House counsel says and what our attorney general of the United States says.”
