Four people are in custody after a shooting in North York Sunday afternoon that involved a Toronto police officer, police say.
At 3 p.m., police say they were called about an incident, which they classified as a stabbing and shooting, in the area of Islington Avenue and Satterly Road.
Police say they arrested four male suspects, including a 17-year-old who was taken to hospital with a gunshot injury to his leg.
The injured suspect is in serious condition, Toronto paramedics say.
Police confirmed an officer was involved in the shooting.
Police did not divulge further details about the incident. A police investigation is ongoing.
Police referred CBC Toronto to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Ontario's police watchdog, for more information. The SIU did not immediately respond to CBC Toronto's request for comment.
The SIU is an independent agency that investigates the conduct of police officers in incidents that may have resulted in death, serious injury, the discharge of a firearm or allegations of sexual assault.
