School board trustee elections are typically part of the municipal election process. But on Oct. 22 the city clerk declared an emergency under section 53 of the Municipal Elections Act, because the ballots in Cambridge were missing two of six names for the school board trustee representing Cambridge and North Dumfries.
The city has launched a third-party review into the error. According to a news release on Friday, a report, including costs, is expected to be completed by the new year.
Following the municipal election, any results cast for Catholic school board trustees in Cambridge were void, but votes cast in North Dumfries were sealed.
Election results were expected Nov. 18 but postal delays pushed that back a week.
On Friday, the sealed results from North Dumfries were counted alongside the new votes from Cambridge.
Voter turnout was 5.7 per cent, with 1,144 people casting a ballot online.
