Zimbabwe vs India: Ryan Burl ready to face KL Rahul’s India in ODI series – We have got our plans
India Today
ZIM vs IND, 1st ODI: Ryan Burl recently scored 34 runs in an over against Bangladesh in a T20I and is ready to face India in the upcoming ODI series.
Zimbabwe all-rounder Ryan Burl said that he is ready to face KL Rahul’s India in the upcoming three-match ODI series. Recently, the left-handed Burl showed his prowess with the bat after he scored 34 runs in a single over during a T20I against Bangladesh at the Harare Sports Club.
Burl hit Nasum Ahmed for the joint second-most expensive over in T20Is. The southpaw started the over with four 6s, after which he nailed one down the ground for a four. Burl finished the over off with another six, eventually helping Zimbabwe win the match and, thereby, the series 2-1.
Ahead of the series against India, the 28-year-old talked about keeping things simple and not overcomplicating things. He also reckoned that the hosts have a slight advantage as they are accustomed to the playing conditions in Harare.
"Just bowl our best balls (to their batters), say a few prayers. Just keep it as simple as possible, we are obviously playing at home, so we obviously know the conditions better. We've got our gameplans and match-ups and on the day we've gotta get out there and perform well," Burl was quoted as saying in an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times.
It wasn’t the first time that Burl took a bowler to the cleaners. Back in 2019, during a match in a tri-series, also involving Afghanistan, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Burl smashed Shakib Al Hasan for 30 runs in an over with three fours and as many sixes.
The first match of the ODI series between India and Zimbabwe is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 18 in Harare.
