India's skipper for the series, KL Rahul, has said that he is hoping to see a good show from the team in the first ODI.
India's stand-in skipper for the series against Zimbabwe, KL Rahul, is aiming for a good outing from the team in the first ODI on Thursday.
Rahul, who had missed a good chunk of matches this year, is making his return after missing out on the tours of England and West Indies. He wasn't originally included in the squad for the matches against Zimbabwe but was then later added and was handed the captaincy as well.
The India skipper won the toss and opted to bowl first. Speaking about his decision, Rahul said that the wicket looked good and since it was an early start, there could be a bit of moisture. He said that it was a good opportunity to bowl first and exploit the first hour of the game.
The India captain also went on to say that the series would be a good chance for the players to challenge themselves and their skills. Rahul also said that he was looking forward to a good show from the team in the first ODI.
He also commented on Deepak Chahar, who made a return to the playing lineup after a lengthy injury layoff.
"We will bowl first. Looks like a good wicket, it's an early start, so could have a bit of moisture. Good opportunity to bowl first and exploit the first hour. A lot of guys have got opportunities, good chance to challenge yourself and your skills. Looking forward to a good show. He (Deepak Chahar) was unfortunate to miss out for a long time, excited for a few coming back after injuries," said Rahul.
