India will be up against Zimbabwe in the second ODI game at the Harare Sports Club. The KL Rahul-led team might look to switch up their batting order for this one.
KL Rahul-led team India will be looking to seal off a series win against Zimbabwe in the second ODI game, scheduled to be played at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday, 20 August. The Zimbabwe team were no match for the Indian side which dominated through the first ODI match and can once again make easy work of the hosts.
However, it is possible that the team might be looking at a switch in the batting order, if they are made to chase again. In the first match, Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill batted for almost 31 overs together and made an unbeaten 192-run partnership, stamping their class all over the series. However, it would be fairly likely if KL Rahul wants to switch it up to get in some match time, ahead of the all important Asia Cup, where India will begin their campaign against Pakistan.
The team has other openers in Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul himself, and he might be tempted to play one of the choices at the top alongside Shikhar Dhawan. This would mean that Gill will have to drop down the order and settle in may be at number three or four.
In terms of bowling line-up, India are likely to go with the same attack and possibly with the same strategy as well, if the conditions permit. Deepak Chahar was the hero of the last game picking up three early wickets, and it will once again be a test for him to prove his fitness. Chahar bowled seven overs on a trot in the first ODI where Harare offered seam movement and he was quite happy to receive favourable conditions during his spell.
Chahar spoke about his workload in the last game and revealed that the first game was a little stressful on him because he needed to make a mark and set himself out from the competition in the Indian team.It is unlikely that Rahul Tripathi and Ruturaj Gaikwad will get a looking since none of the India batters barring Gill and Dhawan got to bat in the 1st ODI.
