Zafarul Islam Khan expressed his anger over the appointment of BJP MP Rakesh Sinha to Jamia Millia Islamia's Anjuman.
Zafarul Islam Khan, former chairman of the Delhi Minorities Commission, expressed anger over the appointment of BJP MP Rakesh Sinha to an important committee at Jamia Millia Islamia University.
Taking to Twitter, Zafarul Islam Khan wrote, "Sanghi ideologue made member of Jamia Millia Anjuman (Court). Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajion."
It is obvious that Zafarul Islam has ideological differences with the RSS, but his writing - "Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajion" has left everyone perplexed. Muslims recite these lines when a person dies.
In a letter issued by the Rajya Sabha secretariat dated February 14, Rakesh Sinha was nominated to the Anjuman (court) of Jamia Millia Islamia University. The Vice Chancellor, two members of Lok Sabha and one member of Rajya Sabha are included in the Anjuman for a period of three years.
This 59-member committee is the highest authority and it takes all important decisions of the university.
Zafarul Islam has always been in the eye of the storm. He had once gotten into trouble for praising fugitive Zakir Naik and once he courted controversy for a statement on the Godhra incident.
Notably, the first woman VC of Jamia, Professor Najma Akhtar, was recently awarded the Padma Shri.
