IND vs SA, 3rd T20I: Former India pacer Ashish Nehra lauded the efforts of Yuzvendra Chahal in the third T20I after the Rishabh Pant-led side sealed a 48-run win over South Africa in Vishakapatnam on June 14.
Former India pacer Ashish Nehra heaped rich praise on Yuzvendra Chahal, saying that the India leg-spinner was back to his aggressive best in the third T20I. Chahal was adjudged Player of the Match for his spell of 3/20 in the third T20I.
India hammered South Africa by 48 runs in the must-win third T20I to stay alive in the five-match series on Tuesday. Chahal (3/20) and Harshal Patel (4/25) led the way with the ball after sizzling half-centuries from Ruturaj Gaikwad (57) and Ishan Kishan (54) powered India to 179 for five.
Chahal was rewarded for bowling quickly as he got an extra bounce from the wicket to get the better of Rassie van der Dussen (1), Dwaine Pretorius (20) and Heinrich Klassen (29).
"Only a few times have we seen Harshal Patel bowl in the powerplay for RCB. This time he conceded a bit but picked up a wicket as well. The aggressive Chahal was on show today, the one we know. He varied his length and pace very well today. After the last match, Chahal must have thought that he was a little defensive," Ashish Nehra said on Cricbuzz.
"Chahal had completely trapped the batters with his flight. He completely took the middle order apart by himself and by the time he was done with his first three overs, the match was well out of South Africa's grasp."
"Chahal and India ticked most of the boxes, especially in the second innings. So, they will definitely take confidence from this match. While we all know what Chahal is capable of, the fact is he missed the squad for the World Cup last time," Nehra added.
