Yukon gives another update on Victoria Gold heap leach failure
CBC
Experts with the Yukon government are set to give another briefing Thursday morning on how the territorial government is responding to the failure of the heap leach facility at Victoria Gold's Eagle mine near Mayo.
You can watch the briefing live on this page starting at 10:30 a.m. Yukon time.
This briefing is expected to focus on off-site environmental testing.
The briefing comes after Yukon Premier Ranj Pillai excoriated Victoria Gold in a speech to the Council of Yukon First Nations' general assembly Tuesday.
That same day, Victoria Gold CEO John McConnell spoke to media for the first time since the heap leach pad failed on June 24.
McConnell said he believes there is no longer the potential for major environmental impacts from the failure, and the mining company is focused on treating water at the site.
