Environment Canada had issued a fog advisory for the London region, warning that widespread fog would causing near-zero visibility in some areas on Wednesday morning.
The mid-week fog descended on London and the rest of southwestern Ontario and lingered for most of the morning. The advisory was eventually lifted but not before police reported crashes on some highways.
"With temperatures near or just below the freezing mark, the fog may deposit ice on untreated surfaces. Some roads and sidewalks may become slippery as a result," Environment Canada said in a statement.
Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility, but the fog is expected to lift later this morning. The weather service advises that if visibility is reduced while driving, to slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
