Doha, Qatar: Qatar Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan will be looking to clear a tough obstacle in their second match of the beach volleyball competition at the 2024 Olympics, when they take on the world’s number one men’s pair, Sweden’s David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig, today in Paris.
The Pool A clash will take place at the purpose built beach court at the foot of the iconic Eiffel Tower, starting at 9 PM Doha time.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallists Younousse and Tijan were off to a flying start on Saturday, defeating World No.13 Italian pair of Paolo Nicolai and Samuele Cottafava in straight sets (21-19, 21-18) in their opening match.
Following the victory, Tijan emphasized the importance of winning the difficult opener, and noted the upcoming clash will be a tough affair.
“The Swedish team is definitely one of the strongest competitors in the tournament, and we aim to win to ensure qualification for the next round, especially since the victory over Italy gave us a significant moral boost for the match against Sweden,” Tijan said.
