Yogi Adityanath-led UP govt revamps SC/ST Commission, appoints Agra’s Dr Rambabu Harit as chief

The Yogi Adityanath-led governmnet appointed former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Dr Rambabu Harit as the chairman of the Uttar Pradesh SC/ST Commission.

Agra has long been known as the Dalit capital of northern India. Following the footsteps of BSP chief Mayawati, whose election campaign would kickstart from Agra, the BJP on Thursday named a city-based Dalit leader as the chairman of the Uttar Pradesh SC/ST Commission. Reconstituting the state’s SC/ST Commission, the Yogi Adityanath-led government made 18 appointments to the body, which included the appointment of former BJP MLA Dr Rambabu Harit as its chairman. Ram Shankar Katheria, former Agra MP, previously held this position.
