Yash's KGF Chapter 2 overtakes Thalapathy Vijay's Beast in Tamil Nadu. Wait, what?

Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 has surpassed the collection of Thalapathy Vijay's Beast in Tamil Nadu. KGF Chapter 2 has been shattering record after record across India.

Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 has done the unthinkable. The film surpassed Thalapathy Vijay's Beast collection in Tamil Nadu on Monday (April 19). This is indeed a huge achievement for a Kannada film to take over Tamil Nadu, which gives more preference to Tamil films. On Monday (April 19), KGF: Chapter 2's collection was way ahead of Beast's collection in Chennai and Tamil Nadu.

While Thalapathy Vijay's Beast hit the theatres on April 13, KGF: Chapter 2 released a day later, on April 14, on Tamil New Year. This gave a slight edge to Beast as it had a five-day opening weekend. While the opening weekend collections were satisfactory, the film [Beast] started to slow down during the weekdays.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala took to Twitter to reveal that KGF: Chapter 2 earned 50 per cent more than what Beast did on April 18. His tweet read, "In jus 5 days, #RockyBhai takes the lead in the daily #Chennai City Box Office. Apr 18th Monday: 1. #KGFChapter2 - Rs 62 Lakhs. 2. #Beast - Rs 36 Lakhs (sic)."

Ramesh Bala also pointed out that in Tamil Nadu, Beast was on Top 1 during the weekend. Now, KGF: Chapter 2 has taken over. "The Final Frontier has fallen. Now, TN joins rest of India, in giving the leadership position to #KGFChapter2 (Daily BO). For Monday, Apr 18th - #KGFChapter2 was No.1 movie in TN by a big margin (sic)," his post read.
