Yami Gautam-starrer A Thursday will release on Disney+ Hotstar on February 17. Directed by Behzad Khambata, the actress plays a school teacher who takes 16 kids hostage in the thriller. In an exclusive chat with IndiaToday.in, Yami talked about playing the complex character, what she looks for in a thriller, and her husband and director Aditya Dhar’s opinion on A Thursday.
Excerpts from the conversation:
A Thursday trailer looks gripping. What did you think of the story when you read the script?
I had a lot of emotions after reading the script. What is in the trailer, is just one aspect of it. There’s much more to Naina. I wanted to know more about the thriller. I was looking for logical loopholes. But, after reading, I took some time and called Behzad (director). I asked him the idea behind the story. We spoke and I told him there was no way I wouldn’t do the film.
Were there any doubts about playing this grey character?
No, the audience will judge for themselves when they see the film. I did not judge Naina. It’s a fictitious character in a fictional story. I was picturising Naina already when I was reading the script. I knew it was going to be worth it. Whether it’s grey, negative or what kind of character Naina is, you will see.
How did you prepare for the role?
