Yaas in 2021 after Amphan in 2020 - the Bay has turned into a basin of cyclones
India Today
Cyclonic storm Yaas is on the verge of making landfall a year after super cyclone Amphan ravaged India's eastern coast. In the last four years, the Bay alone has seen at least 12 cyclonic storms.
A year after the super cyclone Amphan's destructive tryst with India's eastern coast on May 20, 2020, another powerful storm is roaring off Odisha and West Bengal once again. Cyclone Yaas is likely to cruise north-northwestward and cross Odisha's coast around the noon of May 26 as a very severe cyclonic storm, said the India Meteorological Department. This is almost a week after another extremely severe cyclone, Tauktae, hit the western coast of the country.More Related News
