Xiaomi is likely to bring a number of upgrades on the Mi Band 7 including a larger display, AOD support for a few watch faces, and a host of workout modes.
Xiaomi's next fitness band may bring some important upgrades over the existing Mi Band 6. The smartphone maker introduced the Mi Band 6 last year and is expected to unveil the Mi Band 7 soon, which is likely to bring an even larger display, AOD support, built-in GPS, a Smart Alarm feature, and more. According to a well known leaker, Magical Unicorn, the fitness band will go by the codename “L66” and model numbers M2129B1 and M2130B1. It will feature a slightly larger display with a 192 x 490p resolution, AOD support for a few watch faces, and a host of workout modes, ranging from Aerobics to Zumba.
The leak further reveals that Mi Band 7 can get built-in GPS support, a feature we have previously seen on the Redmi and Xiaomi smartwatches. This is an interesting update given that the leaked firmware for the Mi Band 6 also suggested that it would feature built-in GPS support, but the final product didn’t come with the feature. Apart from this, Mi Band 7 is also tipped to get a Smart Alarm feature, which will automatically wake you up from light sleep 30 minutes before your predefined alarm.
Xiaomi is also likely to add a new Power Savings mode to improve battery life on the Mi Band 7. The company hasn't officially confirmed the launch yet but, might introduce it alongside the rumoured Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Last year, Mi Band 6 was launched in China in March and was introduced in India in the second half of the year.
The Mi Band 6 also brought a number of upgrades when compared to the previous Xiaomi bands. It featured a 1.56-inch AMOLED display, which is larger than the 1.1-inch display AMOLED display seen on the Mi Band 5. The display supports 450 nits of peak brightness and an anti-fingerprint coating. It came with 24×7 heart rate monitoring and blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring as well as sleep tracking. The band supported 30 sports modes that can auto-detect six activities such as walking, running, indoor treadmill, and cycling. It packed a 125mAh battery that is touted to deliver 14 days of battery per charge.
Other features on Mi Band 7 included Bluetooth 5.0, female health-tracking, PAI, camera remote shutter, breathing exercise, and stress monitoring. The band works with both Android and iOS-running smartphones. Xiaomi had launched it in Black, Orange, Yellow, Olive, Ivory, and Blue shades.
