The Sony IMX707 sensor that will feature in the Xiaomi 12S series is larger than the Sony IMX766 sensor found in several OnePlus smartphones.
Xiaomi 12S camera specifications have been confirmed ahead of its official launch. The company will launch its flagship smartphone on July 4. Xiaomi 12S will feature a Sony IMX 707 main camera sensor. The same sensor will be used in the Xiaomi 12S Pro.
The Sony IMX707 is a 50MP main camera sensor, which is 1/1.28-inch in size. The company has not confirmed whether the Xiaomi 12S, like the Xiaomi 12S Pro and the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, will come with Leica-tuned cameras.
A separate leak by WhyLab revealed that the Xiaomi 12S primary camera will support optical image stabilisation (OIS). It will also have an f/1.9 aperture and feature a 7P lens. The camera module design will be similar to the Xiaomi 12 Pro. It will have one large cutout at the top half of the camera module for the main camera, whereas the other two sensors will be placed on the left side of the bottom half of the module. The LED flash could also be placed inside the camera module.
Xiaomi is rumoured to launch the Xiaomi 12S in three storage options. The base model will have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It will also launch with 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB storage options.
Under the hood, all three Xiaomi 12S series phones will have a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. The vanilla model is likely to support 67W fast charging and 50W wireless charging. It is rumoured to pack a 4500 mAh battery as well.
At the front, the phone will sport a slightly curved display. The phone will feature an AMOLED 120Hz refresh rate display. The device is likely to sport the same 6.28-inch display of the Xiaomi 12. It will boot Android 12-based MIUI 13 out of the box.
The Xiaomi 12S is likely to launch soon in India. However, there is no official word from the brand regarding the Xiaomi 12S India launch date at the time of writing this.
