Qatar Fuel (Woqod) has opened the Golf Course petrol station, at Education City, it was announced yesterday. The facility, spread across 26,300sq m, has four lanes and 12 dispensers for light vehicles, a statement said. As part of Woqod’s green initiative in line with Qatar’s 2030 vision for sustainability, the Golf Course station will generate electricity from solar energy, in collaboration with Siraj Energy, to cover part of the power usage. There are also electric vehicles charging units, installed in co-operation with the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa). “Woqod aspires to expand its petrol station network in the country to meet the rising demand for petroleum products and achieve the goal of providing customers with access to best-in-class products and services at their convenience and comfort,” managing director and CEO Saad Rashid al-Muhannadi said. The Golf Course petrol station, which offers round-the-clock services, includes a Sidra convenience store, manual car wash, oil change and tyre repair for light vehicles, fast-food drive thru and sale of Shafaf LPG cylinders, in addition to gasoline and diesel products for light vehicles. Woqod is currently overseeing the implementation of seven new fuel stations, most of which are expected to be operational before the end of 2022.
