Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said that the government won the 'first round of battle' against NEET as Governor RN Ravi assured Stalin the anti-NEET bill would be forwarded for Presidential assent.
The anti-NEET bill was adopted by the state assembly on February 8. The bill seeks exemption for his state from the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to medical and dental colleges.
Stating the conversation with the Governor, Stalin said that there will not be any room for NEET in the state and the government would work towards ensuring this.

Health minister M Subramanian said that CM MK Stalin had met the Governor yesterday and received positive feedback with regard to NEET. Subramaniam said that the assembly had submitted the bill for the second time and the Governor will forward it to the Centre for Presidential assent.
He said the bill would be a huge relief for the medical aspirants in the state.
Barring the BJP, all other parties in Tamil Nadu oppose Neet and doing away with the national test is one of the 2021 assembly election assurances of the ruling DMK.
