Women’s panel takes cognisance of MNS worker assaulting Mumbai woman

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken cognisance of the video where a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) worker was seen assaulting a seemingly elderly woman in the Kamathipura area of Mumbai.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Friday took cognisance of the video where a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) worker is seen slapping, pushing and abusing a seemingly elderly woman in the Kamathipura area of Mumbai.
NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma wrote to the Director General of Police in Maharashtra demanding the immediate arrest of the accused involved in the matter. The commission also sought a fair and time-bound investigation seeking an action-taken report within five days.

Earlier, three workers of the party were arrested over the matter. However, all the three accused - Vinod Argile, Raju Argile and Satish Lad, were released on bail. Party officials of MNS said Argile was removed from his post as the Upvibhag pramukh.
Meanwhile, the former mayor of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Kishori Pednekar visited the woman and said, “It is wrong to manhandle a woman who is also a senior citizen. Others will get inspired to commit such acts.”
