A woman touched Ramayan actor Arun Govil's feet at the airport. The veteran actor played Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar's mythological show.
Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan was one of the most popular shows of the late 80s. So much so, that the lead characters playing Lord Ram, Sita and Laxman, were treated as synonymous with Gods. The lockdown in 2020 saw Ramayan returning to TV. The mythological show’s lead actor, Arun Govil, has often said how most people still refer to him as Ram. He was at the airport when a woman got emotional and fell to his feet. A surprised Arun Govil was seen trying to take control of the situation.
Arun Govil, who played Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, was seen taken aback by a woman’s reaction at the airport. The veteran actor was spotted at the airport with his family, when a woman got emotional, touched his feet and prayed to him. Arun Govil was seen gesturing to the woman’s husband to stop her, who was also present on the scene. Later, he was seen putting a yellow dupatta around the woman’s neck as a blessing.

Arun Govil, who played the titular character of Lord Ram in 1987 mythological show Ramayan, spoke about playing one of the most important figures of Indian mythology. He told PTI, " remember I had given an audition for Ram and I failed initially. I don’t know what happened. The photoshoot happened with the look and make-up but I wasn’t looking like Lord Ram. Then we thought of adding a smile and then everything got sorted."
