A video from Ukraine's Kyiv has gone viral on social media in which a woman can be seen planting flowers in anticipation that the conflict will be over soon.
It has been 43 days since Russia invaded Ukraine but there seems to be no sign of de-escalation. Women and children in thousands have fled the war-torn country and some heartbreaking images of pain and despair have been emerging from Ukraine. More than ten million people are already thought to have fled their homes in Ukraine because of the invasion. However, a video that has emerged from the country’s capital Kyiv on social media gives people a bleak glimmer of hope.
Richard Gaisford, Chief Correspondent, Good Morning Britain, shared a video of a woman planting flowers in Kyiv. She is hopeful that things are going to get better. “’War is war, but flowers still need to be planted’ - the view of a Kyiv city gardener, bringing spring colour to the city. She’s hopeful that conflict will be over soon and wants the capital looking beautiful again,” he wrote sharing the video.

People on the internet lauded her optimism. “The definition of optimism. I cannot remember ever having so much admiration and respect for a country. Ukrainians are an example to us all of courage and dogged determination to save their country. We must keep giving them all the advanced weaponry they need to defeat Putin (sic),” a user wrote.
