Woman killed, her son injured after SUV rams into divider at Delhi’s flyover

A 45-year-old woman, resident of Ashok Vihar, was killed while her son was severely injured after an SUV rammed into a divider at Satyawati flyover in Delhi on Sunday morning.
A 45-year-old woman was killed while her son sustained injuries after the SUV they were travelling in rammed into a divider at Satyawati flyover in Delhi on Sunday morning.
It was at around 5 AM that a PCR call was received at Bharat Nagar police station, informing them about the accident at Satyawati flyover, Ashok Vihar.
Upon receiving the information, local police reached the spot only to find that a woman had fallen off the flyover under the impact of the accident. Meanwhile, her son who was driving the car was seriously injured. Police also spotted a Scorpio in a mangled state.
The mother-son duo was immediately shifted to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, where the woman succumbed to her injuries.
The deceased was later identified as Poonam, a resident of Ashok Vihar. Meanwhile, her son, Vats Bhatia, is being treated at the hospital.
A case has been registered into the matter under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (act endangering life) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
A probe is underway and CCTVs are being scanned to ascertain the sequence of events.
