A woman jumped into a well along with her two-year-old daughter in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur district. The incident took place late at night in the Chauth Ka Barwara area. The woman had been in financial distress.
The victim was identified as Babudi Gurjar, a resident of the Kumharia village. The incident came to light when the villagers discovered the bodies early in the morning. After the police reached the spot, they recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem.
Station officer, Tinu Sogarwal, said, “We have started an investigation into the matter. So far, we believe that it is a case of suicide as the woman was under financial stress which had caused a strain on her personal relationships as well.”
On May 28, the bodies of three women along with two children were also recovered from a well in Jaipur district. The women who were sisters were married into the same family. The victim’s family accused the husbands’ family of dowry harassment.
