According to the police, the mother was unhappy with her daughter's extra-marital affair and used to force her to go back to her husband.
A woman and her friend were arrested on Sunday after they allegedly killed her 55-year-old mother at her house in an area under Dr Ambedkar Nagar police station, Delhi, said police.
Sub-inspector (S-I) Awadhesh rushed to the spot after getting information and sent the body of deceased Sudha Rani to AIIMS for autopsy.
The accused, identified as Devyani, first tried to mislead the police by saying that two persons with guns entered the house, robbed her mother of jewellery and cash, and killed her before escaping.

However, she kept on changing her statements, which made the police suspicious.
A police team was constituted to investigate the case. During the investigation, 24-year-old Devyani was questioned at length. She was continuously changing her statements and was not very clear about the sequence of events.
Inspection of the crime scene and contradictory statements by Devyani made her the prime suspect. On continuous questioning, Devyani broke down and accepted killing her mother with one Kartik Chauhan.
