With the federal election on Monday, what are Hamiltonians hoping for? We asked voters to find out
CBC
Hamilton residents will be heading to ballot boxes with the federal election on Monday. CBC Hamilton asked a number of local voters what they're thinking about as they prepare to cast their votes, and what they are hoping will be priority for those who are voted in. Here are some of the issues they said are top of mind:
Viraj Bain, 18, in the Hamilton Centre riding, is a first-time voter and student at McMaster University.
"The number one issue I'm thinking of is probably the environment ... given that I've got probably at least 60 years ahead of me and I would prefer that the Earth isn't on fire when that time comes around," he said.
Steve Crainford, 73, and MJ Irvine, 69, in Hamilton East-Stoney Creek, say climate change is their top issue too.
"It can't be ignored any longer but I'm not sure any of the parties have a good, firm plan on it," Irvine said.
They both said they're voting Liberal.
Andrew Moull, 33, on Hamilton Mountain, works as an emergency and disaster management specialist at Hamilton Health Sciences. He said he's concerned about also climate change and bout emergency management.
