Winter weather advisory in place for Niagara, Haldimand-Norfolk with up to 5 cm forecast

A winter weather advisory is in place for Niagara, Haldimand and Norfolk, warning "brief but intense snowfall" is expected to drop up to five centimetres on Tuesday morning.
Environment Canada says a band of lake-effect snow is expected to roll through the region from Lake Erie in the early morning.
"Snowfall rates could be as high as 2 cm per hour in the heaviest bands which could rapidly reduce visibilities to below 1 km at times," reads the advisory.
That could build up to five centimetres before the snow moves on, according to the weather authority.
It's cautioning drivers to be prepared for limited visibility and road surfaces that could be slippery or covered in snow.
"Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common."
If people encounter heavy snowfall they're reminded to slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
