T20 World Cup 2021: Virat Kohli, who has announced that he will quit as India captain after the premier T20 tournament in the UAE, will be looking to end his T20 captaincy career on a high with a major trophy.
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar said Virat Kohli will have a perfect end to his captaincy tenure in the shortest format of the game if India win the T20 World Cup in the UAE this year. Gavaskar said it will be a glorious end to Kohli's captaincy in T20s despite the IPL 2021 heartbreak where Royal Challengers Bangalore lost out on an opportunity to win their maiden title after losing in the Eliminator.
Virat Kohli's IPL captaincy chapter came to an end without the celebrated cricketer winning a title with Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kohli has one more opportunity to win a title in the shortest format as captain as he will lead India in the T20 World Cup.
