Director Anees Bazmee in an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in revealed that the film budgets have increased due to Covid-19. The director also gave an update on Kartik Aaryan-starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
Even though it's a new year, it feels like we are back in 2020, when all we did was get locked in our house and pray for everything to get back to normalcy. Well, today, though we are not exactly locked in, the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases has certainly brought the entertainment industry to a standstill. After a lot of struggle, Bollywood was finally getting back on its feet, when the third wave struck. And so just at the beginning of the year, most of the theatres were asked to shut down, which led to films like Jersey, RRR, and Radhe Shyam postponing their release. However, it's not just the releases that are affected. Many other things like trailer launches, city visits, on-location shoots have been brought to a halt.
We recently learned that actress Deepika Padukone, who celebrated her 36th birthday on January 5, had planned to release the trailer of her upcoming film Gehraiyaan in Alibaug with the media. But the plan had to be cancelled due to the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases. Not only Deepika, even the makers of Akshay Kumar's next film, Prithviraj, decided not to host a trailer launch event amidst the current situation. The film was slated to release in January. Ideally, the trailer should have been launched by now. But looking at the rising cases, the makers have been thinking about postponing the trailer launch.Reportedly, actor Salman Khan has laid down strict rules on the sets of Tiger 3 due to the rise in Covid- 19 cases. IndiaToday.in exclusively spoke to filmmaker Aneez Bazmee. The director said that there is not much that can be done in a situation like this.
